Training in Exchange for Feedback

Services Offered

Barter training includes four, one-hour sessions with you and your dog. Some examples of things we can work on are as follows, but this list is not exhaustive!

• House manners (sit, stay, loose leash walking, etc.)

• Addressing unwanted behaviors (like digging, barking, destroying)

• Life skills, like recognizing and responding to mild stress and fear

We'll start with a 30-minute discovery call, where we'll discuss your household's needs and I'll tell you a little more about my approach. If we're a good match, we'll get our first session scheduled. 

Training sessions are offered in exchange for your feedback; there is no monetary cost. Your feedback is private (I won't ask you for Google reviews or testimonials). I'll send you a survey after each session, and we'll set up a 30-minute feedback session at the end of the program. 

Training sessions are offered on nights and weekends only, in the City of Richmond. Unused sessions will expire 90 days after your discovery call. I can only take a limited number of clients for barter training, so training is first come, first served.

My Approach

I’m Holly (she/they), a positive reinforcement dog trainer based in Richmond, Virginia. I use reward-based, force-free training rooted in the science of behavior. That means I use cooperation and choice, instead of pain or intimidation. In addition to learning life skills like sit and stay, we'll also explore how your dog communicates and what helps them feel safe and confident.

As a new trainer, I need an opportunity to practice the skills I've learned. That's where barter training comes in. By allowing me the privilege of working with you and your dog, I'll get the hands-on practice I need and you'll get quality training at an affordable price (free😊).
